Black Panther the movie has been explosive before and after it’s opening! So what better album to review than The Black Panther Soundtrack! *Warning: This album contains explicit language*
Black Panther’s soundtrack is of course the musical accompaniment of the Marvel movie Black Panther. The album was produced by the talented Kendrick Lamar and is #1 on the Billboard 200 chart for the second week in a row! The album features popular artists such as SZA, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott. A Mighty success for Hip-Hop and I am quite proud of the accolades the album is achieving. But my review may reflect a little different
The general comments from the public on the album are “LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!” However I personally liked it but I didn’t LOVE it. I’m sorry I just didn’t! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE MOVIE! If you haven’t seen it, it is a MUST see. I venture to say that Black Panther will be the best movie I’ll see all year! But with that said I have to give my honest opinion of the soundtrack. I want to say I liked 70% of the album, which I think is a really good amount for a movie soundtrack. Also this album, unlike the movie, is not family friendly in any way. Just about every song is explicit. A few of the songs were just a tad bit too gritty for me and just wasn’t my taste. Some sounds you’ll hear in the album are, R&B, Alternative R&B, Hip-Hop, trap, and even EDM. I think Lamar was successful in executing multiple elements and sounds to give the movie audial emotion. But I have to say I won’t personally be vibing to the WHOLE album. My favorite tracks on the album are: ‘All the Stars’, ‘Big Shot’, and ‘Pray for me’. Most people fell in love with this right along with the movie, but me not so much!
I give ‘Black Panther the album’ a 7 out of 10!
